Harold Penner form the Food Grains Bank dropped in at the school this afternoon and gave us a short report on their projects in Manitoba. He also included some shots of their trip to Africa. The school visited the local project just down the road a mile away, east of the school. We got to see a number of combines and a swather at work.
MCS is planning an MCC focus day for October 31. More details to follow as the planning is worked out.
As of this moment, Kim Thiessen is planning on coming out with a few others for an afternoon of music and story telling. The concert will be at 2:00 pm – location to be determined. Everyone welcome.
More details to follow.
Apple sales: This year we managed to sell just over 700 boxes of apples! This is a new record, ‘congratulations and thank-you’ to all who put the effort in to make this fund-raiser a major success. Again, as last year, we hope to use the funds mostly for the promotion of The Arts in MCS. Last year we bought a drum kit, invited Sheila Berg and Fred Penner to visit MCS with their special skills. But first we will ‘tithe’ and give a gift of soccer balls to situations such as Mr. Dyck is in. We plan to give $700 towards sports equipment for Third World schools. (See One World Futball website)
Apple delivery details: Tuesday, October 1, we get to pick up our apples! Please let your customers know the time and place.
Arborg Home Hardware 2:00-6:00

Pizza Day: Our Apple Fund-raiser Pizza celebration comes on Friday, October 18. Please plan to not send lunches that day! The Ice Cream part of the party may need to be another day.

The Student Leadership Conference is scheduled for October 23-25. Seventeen High School students have been invited to attend!
All 4 Basketball hoops are up and being enjoyed!
The High School Soccer Tournament is running 3 days per week!
The 2012-2013 Yearbooks are in!
This is an exciting time of year right now as we are in the middle of our apple fundraiser. These apples are straight from an orchard in B.C. They will hopefully come in the first week of October and will be available for pickup at the Morweena School, Vidir Machine, or Arborg Home Hardware. Our goal is to sell 500 boxes of apples but would love to sell 450 by September 20. The money from this will be going towards something arts related. Last year the school used the money to buy a drum kit, have a guest artist come in, and bring Fred Penner in for a concert.
Right now we have sold 150 boxes. If you would be interested in buying apples please contact a student, teacher, or send the order directly to Amber Dueck at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our apple list:
Macintosh @ $30
Red Delicious @ $30
Gold Delicious @ $30
Spartin @ $30
Jona Gold @ $32
Royal Gala @ $35
Ambrosia @ $42
If you have any questions please email Amber Dueck at email@example.com.

The Spring Concert was a huge success! I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, those watching or those involved, but whatever the case it was a huge blessing for all. Looking out over the crowd as we got a standing ovation Friday night was an experience to remember. It’s hard to believe that it’s finally over, and that summer is just around the corner. Thank you all for making Spring Concert 2013 amazing.
I don’t know what to say about the Spring Concert, except that it will be amazing! Most of us got the chance to see most of it today, many of us seeing scenes for the first time. So much work is being put into the concert, and I hope all of you will get a chance to see the end result. If you can’t make it either thursday or friday night, the dress rehearsal is at 12 noon on Thursday, and you are welcome.
