Our practices have become more and more elaborate, now including lights, mikes, and costumes. More and more props are coming together, and it’s beginning to look quite professional. Now all we need is the audience.

Despite our lack of choir this year, we haven’t completely forgotten how to sing. Janet Hamm has kindly offered to help with the music, and we are already starting to sound amazing.

Thrift Shop Trek

Procuring props and costumes for the Concert that look in period can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. The Thrift Shop has already seen the costume group come through, as well as the props and hospitality groups.

Make-Up Runthrough

The Make-Up group has begun practicing the character’s looks, much to the chagrin of all the guys.

It’s amazing how organized they are. They have a binder full of drawings so they can replicate exactly what they did last time. I don’t think we were nearly that smart about it last Spring Concert when I was in the Make-Up group.

Backdrops are Coming Together

Reserving Seats

Do you remember how full the Christmas Concert was? There were people standing up in the kitchen, doing their best to peer out over the crowds before them. In order to combat the same situation, we’re taking reservations. Of course, if you don’t care about standing, or seeing or hearing the play, come without reservations, but with reservation you’ll be guaranteed a seat. Seats are filling up fast though:

Seating Arrangements

The play itself isn’t the only thing that needs to be practiced. On the 2nd, all the pews were hauled out of the sanctuary and replaced with chairs for a dry-run of the Spring Concert Seating Arrangement. A plan was created for reservation system, and the school is now ready to take your reservations. Call 204-364-2466, or email elainer@morweenaschool.org to reserve, or you may be left standing.

Assembling Scripts

These pictures show the very beginning of the Spring Concert Process: Assembling Scripts. This happened near the beginning of April.

To Assemble a Script one must:

1) print it out

2)punch holes in it for comb binding. However, each script needs to be done in two sections as it is too thick to do in one.

3)the comb must be opened, the script inserted, and the comb is closed.

Then the process is repeated roughly 50 times. It took roughly 1-1.5 hours to do the total.
